This free printable penguin template is a great way for children to practice fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and gluing skills. It's easy to customize to suit your particular materials and lesson focus.

This project is the perfect craft for winter. Here are a few ideas for ways to use this printable cut and paste craft:

Younger children (preschool and pre-k) may need adult supervision and assistance to cut out the smaller pieces. Most kindergarten and first grade students should be able to cut out the shapes on their own.

The eyebrow pieces are the trickiest to cut out. Younger learners may want to draw eyebrows, instead. The beak can also be drawn on, if preferred.

Materials needed for an easy penguin craft

There are many different fun winter crafts to make with this free penguin template. Your exact material needs will depend on how you plan to use your free printable template. No matter how you decide to use it, you will need:

This penguin craft template is in color, but the only colored pieces are the orange beak and two feet. You can print in black and white instead of color, if needed.

You will not need black construction paper or black paint unless you decide to use the template to trace additional penguin shapes instead of printing them.

Depending on how you plan to use the craft template, you may need some additional craft supplies such as:

Pom poms or cotton balls can be glued to the penguin's belly. You can also use colorful sand or glitter on the body or belly. Glue the belly piece onto the black body before adding any embellishments.

It's easy to turn the cute penguin into a puppet when you glue it to a craft stick, paper bag, or toilet paper roll. Make sure to discover this post on how to sanitize toilet paper rolls for crafts.

TIP: It's easiest to assemble the head and body separately, then glue the head on top of the body. Add the wings and feet last.
